Hatton Locks Cafe
About This Spot
Nestled quietly alongside the gentle stretch of Hatton Locks, this cafe offers more than just a spot to grab a bite—it invites you into a warm, inviting pause in the day. The moment you step inside, the modest space wraps you in a homely embrace, where the hum of friendly conversation mixes with the comforting aroma of fresh coffee and baking scones. Sunlight filters through the windows, catching glimpses of canal boats drifting by, while the covered outdoor seating brings the waterside charm closer, perfect for lingering over a slow morning or an afternoon treat.
The pace here is unhurried, quietly tuned to the rhythm of the locks outside, making it an ideal spot to rest during a countryside stroll or a lazy weekend wander. Around you, subtle nods to the canal’s heritage pepper the decor—small vintage touches and local artifacts that tell stories without ever needing to shout.
Inside the kitchen, simplicity and care shape every plate. Whether it’s the tender homemade scones served with thick clotted cream and jam, or a hearty full English breakfast that feels like a warm welcome, every meal carries a sincere sense of comfort. The coffee, famously well-poured, is an honest companion to sweet treats like lemon meringue or millionaire’s shortbread, as well as to savory options where familiar flavors meet thoughtful touches like a bacon bap or a ploughman’s lunch crafted with fresh local ingredients.
Despite its quaint size, the cafe feels expansive in spirit, shaped by the attentiveness of its small team who imbue it with a genuine, unpretentious kindness that resonates with visitors. This is a place where you might settle in with a book, meet a friend for quietly shared moments, or simply watch the boats navigating their way while sipping a robust cappuccino from delicate china cups—a rare and cherished pleasure these days.
For those seeking a local gem to experience the tranquil beauty of the Warwickshire canalside while savoring honest, lovingly prepared fare, this cafe quietly earns its place as a preferred retreat. It’s in the gentle details and the easy sense of belonging here that the heart of the place truly shows.

I visited for afternoon tea yesterday and it was delightful. The staff were incredibly kind and fitted us in even though I left it last minute to book. The sandwiches were lovely, scones still warm and the little cakes were a dream. One of the best afternoon teas we have ever had. It was so lovely to drink out of little China tea cups as well, not a lot of places have them anymore. A little gem of a place, I can’t wait to go back!!

Lovely little gem of place just on the path of a canal and run by a small attentive team and seems rather popular . Not vast on the inside but does have a covered outdoor section to the side, really feels cosy surrounded by various interesting canal related items which can be purchased . The menu is straightforward consisting of breakfast / lunch type items which is freshly prepared and the quality is really good along with various takeaway bits near the counter. Just loved it and was really wonderful .

Lovely cafe to start and finish a lock walk with. Great coffee. We never ate but the pork baps looked delicious

10/10 all around! Food was amazing quality. I think the best mushrooms I've had in my life! Very helpful staff! If you get a sunny day you must sit outside! Drinks were made instantly and the bacon was very thick! Leaving very satisfied with a full tummy

The breakfast was good, especially the sausage and the service was excellent. Nice surroundings, right by the canal, watching the boats going, sat in the shade from the trees. Very nice, highly recommended.

Cute cafe, had a really nice ploughman's. We sat inside but there are plenty of outside tables. It was busy on a Tuesday but not crowded. Situated next to the impressive flight of locks. Lovely staff. Have added a photo re parking at the locks as is a bit confusing
